To late for ballet..?

hey, im a dancer, (well i do modern and jazz regularly and used to do tap and ballet). and well i used to do ballet when i was very young.. say 5/6ish. but now im 17 and am doing a performing arts course (acting, dancing, singing) and really want to start ballet again as it would really help flexibility ect. I can still stand on point so im thinking that may be a slight advantage, but is it too late to start now? I obviously dont intend to make a career of ballet dancing but will i look ridiculous if i start a class this late.. and will i be with like children?

To late for ballet..?shows

I have been taking ballet since I was three years old at a really intense school, so I know how hard it can be. You couldn't start up like that (really intense) but easing yourself back into would be good. Obviously, it gets WAY more advanced, so really I don't think your prior experience would be of much help, (besides learning the basics of course). You probably want to take some sort of adult class at a respectable studio (not some "Donna's Dance Work's" type place- but you will probably know a good place when you see it because of your jazz/modern experience), because that could help with the whole flexibility thing, and get you into the basics (because normal adult classes aren't usually very advanced). If you are looking into ballet seriously, it will probably be tough, and I doubt you will be doing pointe, because that really wouldn't do you much good unless you were looking into a career in ballet, and were willing to pay $80.00 every couple months for shoes, and willing to take classes at least twice a week, and have REALLY gross, mangled toes (yea, I know, ew). SO it sounds like you ned something more general (intermediate at the most), but I'm sure your jazz can be helpful. Although you do know that musical theatre dance is INTENSE (i've taking classes) and really demanding, so if your going for a musical, I hope all of your training has been excellent (you'll need it).

I think you are definetly not too young.I doubt you will be with the children, but it really does depend on the school.maybe you could go to the ballet school where you are thinking about going to, and ask them these questions. hope this helps:)
it's never too late :)

good luck.
No, it's not too late. There should be adult classes offered either with your local Parks %26amp; Recreation, Dance studios, or Community Education programs. Go for it!
its nevER TOO LATE TO TRY! AND WHO CARES IF YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS!! and they wouldnt put you in with little kidss thats why they ask for your age
It's not too late. I mean, it's dancing. And you're aware that you don't want to make it a career, so go for it. It would help tons in shows where you have to dance...can you name a musical with no dancing? Also you already have modern jazz going for you.
You can totally start now! Sign up for a adult class so ur not with lil kids!
I have a girl in high school in my ballet class, and she does fine. If you can already go up on pointe shoes, you WILL be with younger kids, but not too much younger. Remember that's it never too late to start ballet.
It's never too late to start, and you'd probably be with an adult beginners or something like that. Unless your studio is like that...putting all beginners in one class? You should start it!
It's never too late! I'm 21 and just starting! Take an adult class and just ease yourself back into it and you'll be fine! Have fun!
It's not too late and never will be. That's why they actually made beginner ballet adult courses at dance schools. Some people don't go back to ballet until they are in their 20's or 30's. Go back, ballet will really help performing arts course.
I'm 13 I just started learning again, there is a 25 year old girl in my class, and we dance with 6-10 year olds. its about the class not whos in it
