As a child i read the book The Painted Garden, the names of the girls in the Ballet Shoes rang bells, is it the same characters but now grown up (the ballet shoes sisters) the book was about a family who goes to America, the elder daughter is into ballet but the younger tomboyish daughter ends up making a movie, a remake of The Secret Garden playing Mary Maddox, the Painted Garden is the set of the movie.

The Ballet Shoes is a series of books written by Noel Stratfield (I think) it was written in the thirties or something. I've never heard of the Painted Garden though.
