Math Help With Probability Please!?

For a showing of a specific movie, an AMC theater estimates that 120 ppl will attend if it is not raining. It is is raining, the theater estimates that 200 people will attend. The meteorologist predicts at 70% chance of rain tomorrow. Determine the expected number of poeple who will attend the movie.

(the answer is 176 people.)

Math Help With Probability Please!?performing shows

Think of this as a weighted average.

the expected number of people will be the expected number of people if it is raining multiplied by the probability of rain plus the expected number of people if it is not raining multiplied by the probability of not raining.

Expected number of people

= 120 * P(not raining) + 200 * P(rain)

= 120 * 0.30 + 200 * 0.70

= 176

Math Help With Probability Please!?say yes opera theater

Take the difference between the two estimations (200 people if raining - 120 people if not raining = 80 people). The predictions differ by 80 people. Multiply 80 by the 70% chance of rain and you get 56. Add the 56 people to the 120 (or subtract it from the 200) and you get 176.

I need help finding a recipe for this?

I had a salad in a restaurant when i was in L.A. last year. it was near westwood next to the AMC theater.

It had sliced avocadoes, tobiko (flying fish roe), lettuce and a bit of cucumber strips, and also a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Im looking for the salad dressing recipe...

its A WHITE salad dressing

it was sweet

it was kinda watery and NOT THICK.

it was probably a White Miso dressing.

juice of half a lemon

quarter cup of seasoned rice wine vinegar

one tablespoon of white miso

one tablespoon of honey

sea salt and fresh pepper

half cup of grape seed oil

tablespoon of dark sesame seed oil

in a large bowl whip all ingredients except oils, together

while whisking, drizzle oil in whip like a mad person until all oil is blended. garnish with roasted sesame seeds.

Use only white miso. other kinds of misos are too strong in flavor.

I need help finding a recipe for this?getting late opera theater

the salad dressing is probably ranch
It sounds like a Tahini dressing. Here's one Tahini based recipe. Try it and if it's not what you want google for others:

1 clove smashed garlic

Salt

2 lemons

tablespoons sesame tahini

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup extra virgin oil

Add 4 cups of mesclun (mixed greens)

1 cup mixed lettuce

Rub the inside of a wooden salad bowl by pressing 1 clove smashed garlic with a pinch of salt. Mince the garlic and add to the bowl. Add juice from 2 lemons and 2 tablespoons sesame tahini, 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Gradually whisk in 1/2 cup extra virgin oil until well blended. Add 4 cups of mesclun blended with 1 cup mixed lettuce and toss.
Do you recall the name of the restaurant? If so, they may have a website. The site may include descriptions of menu items or at least contact info. so that you can email or call them for a recipe.

If you don't remember the name, you can get a # online for the AMC theater at that location, call the theater and ask them for the name of the restaurant nearby, then look up the restaurant's # and call them.

If they don't wanna give you their recipe, just tell them you're from out of town and that you'd be their best customer if you lived there, so "Pretty Please!"

Do you need to have a parent to see an R rated movie?

Cuz i wanna take my 16 yr old girl to see one. But she says i need to be the parent so she can come with me. Do i have to be or can any adult go see a movie with a minor? Its an AMC theater if it makes a difference. %26gt;.%26gt; %26lt;.%26lt;

Do you need to have a parent to see an R rated movie?tickets

Yes, you need to be with someone who is 18. I would try it and if there is a problem, have a back up plan in place for another movie

Do you need to have a parent to see an R rated movie?ballet opera theater

Yep you do need a parent. unless you both are 17+. An adult can take a minor to see the movie if they stay and watch it with them.
i think as long as you have an adult ticket it doesn't matter that you're not the parent. i'd rather think over the fact that she wants you to pretend to be the parent? what's that about?
nope as long as ur 18 or older
It all depends on where you live and if they are paying attention to the fact that you are underage. I live in ny and i have never been asked for id and i have been seeing rated r movies since highschool.
its pretty easy to sneak in, but a ticket for another movie then go see the one you want to see.
yup till ur 18
no as long as the person that is with you is 18 or over

I have a really,really, really important question!!...?

my 16yr. old friend works at the amc theater and just texted me 10 min. ago. i have been pondering about what to do and how to handle it. she said "I have a person that i am protecting." I asked her what she meant and she said "this lady I work with is being beaten and abused by her husband and he is a cop. i will kill him." i told her not to kill him 'cuase she will be tried as an adult and go to jail. she said "He beats a girl plus I will prove it so ye, I will kill him before he kills her" and I haven't texted back 'cause I don't know what to do or say her. if someone is hurting her friend(s) she will defend them at any cost and so is in many school fights so I believe she will defend this lady at all costs. but I don't want her to do the wrong thing you know. what do we do. you can't just go 2 the cops about another cop beating his wife it doesnt work that way but what can we do to get evidence and prove it and put him away the right way and help her friend? I am really scared.

I have a really,really, really important question!!...?comedy club

If she and her daughters are in harms way, they need to get out of there...FAST. Document what she can and believe it or not, not all cops will cover for a wife %26amp; child beater. If they do, go to the state's attorney and file a complaint. Killing the guy just is not the answer.....let him go to prison and answer there.

I have a really, really, really important question!!...?sheet music opera theater

Tell your friend to tell her to get to a women's shelter pronto.
call your friends parents. she cant go around killing people...but good luck!
all text messages are used against you in a court of law.

Mind your own business!

If you call the cops and it's nothing except your friend being crazy..........what then????

don't text her back.

tell your parent.

ask them what to do!
Call a domestic violence hotline. You can call 411 or look in the phone book. Do it NOW! They will tell you what to do.
Please call the authorities........IMMEDIATELY!

If he is beating her, the proof will be evident.
use the cell and take pics. try and recorded whatever u can. there has to be somenone on the force she can talk to. call his captain and his partner, there has to be someone who can help her. call the police, at least they can start an investigation. this a critical situation do not take matters into your own hands!!!!!!!!!call 911!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your best bet for all of you is to get some evidence or talk to this women when the cop husband is at work and tell her to go see a doctor to take photos of her injurys. The only way to stop abuse is to report it with evidence. Since he's a cop...it will be more difficult but she can go to victims services for their protective help* if she doesn't she may end up dead..or your friend that will do anything to protect someone will end up doing alot of time in jail :(

The WIFE needs to stand up for her rights and see either Victims Services or Shelters for battered women* GOODLUCK*
Your friend is planning to kill someone and plead defense of others. However, the fact that she has told you will likely preclude that defense. The reasoning is, if she had time to tell someone and -at least in theory-plan it, it is premeditated.

If your friend's friend won't call the police to protect her, your friend should do it for her. Spouse abuse is a serious matter and if the abused spouse will pursue the matter, the courts tend to not take it lightly. As a minimum your friend should help her friend physically remove herself from the situation.
This lady will continue to take it until she decides not to anymore.

Tell your 16 year old friend to back off (forcefully) because this will bite her in the butt.

She doesn't get to kill someone else's dragon. If she wants this battle to be hers, she will have to find her own abusive partner. If she steps in and does battle for this woman, it prolongs the battle because the woman doesn't have to stand up for herself.
that is a corrupt cop and no one including the justice sytem is going to protect a corrupt cop unless they are all corrupt. so take some pictures of the womens beating and then go and make copies and then give them as proof to the police and if nothing is done then go somewhere else and keep doing so and find a lawer. but first and most importantly get the beaten women away from her husband and protect in ur home or in another persons home so he wouldn t know where she is. the other things dont really matter unless she is in a safe place. tell ur freind that there are other ways than doing what she plans on doing and the only real payback would be to watch him suffer from losing his wife and going to jail. i dont believe that that is true but it is something that she would like to hear. and by killing him he wouldnt really feel the pain of losing a wife and freedom. GOODLUCK!!! i really wish the best!
You need to talk to the lady involved. She needs to stop confiding in and expecting a 16 year old to help. She is being ridiculous. She can go to a women's shelter and get help. She can leave him. She could go to the chief police officer or D.A. if she needs to with her own proof. Don't get involved and get your daughter out of that situation before she ends up in Juvie.
First, if she has bruises or any sign of abuse, tell her to have somebody take photos, then with or without photos she need to go to the police. Policemen are not exempt of the law.

A professor once told me: if you have a problem with someone; either at work, family, social circle; anywhere, there's always someone above that person to whom you can take a complain to.

This policeman is abusing your friend because in a way he thinks your friend has nowhere to go.

She needs to go talk to this man's superiors, the sooner the better. And if she has witness, photos, anything, the better.

Best of luck to both of you.
OK First of all there will be no fighting of any kind! And NO killing ever! Calm down and take a deep breath. And call your friend tell her to do the same thing. DON'T BE STUPID
If she does kill him she will be no better than him. Her friend needs to go to a shelter where she will be protected. Maybe in a different town. Maybe you should talk to some policeman in a different town too about her problem. She needs to go to a hospital when she gets beat up and have them take pictures of her. Pictures/video of her bruises will prove her case.

What is this up-coming horror movie called?

I was visiting California and went to the AMC theater to see Be Kind Rewind, but before it I was enjoying some really great previews. There was one which looked like a HORRIBLE movie because it was so gruesome and bloody. I don't remember anything about the actors or the title, but it was about this family of three being terrorized by two young guys. One looked similar to Lucas Grabeel. The woman being terrorized looked similar to Keira Knightley or a blonde Natalie Portman. The two guys (including the one that looked like Grabeel) were whacking and tripping the family with golf clubs. There was one part where one of the men said to the family, "Let's make a bet. You bet you will be alive tomorrow, we bet you won't." Or something of the sort. I think it comes out in 2008. My best friend would be very interested with this movie and I want to find out what it is for her! Does anyone know?

Does the security has the right to check my movie ticket if I am still at lobby?

I went to AMC theater. I checked in and walk around the lobby to wait for movie to start. The security followed me and eventually asked me to show him my ticket. I didn't go into other movie room to watch the movie I didn't pay for. I was just walking around the lobby. Does he has the right to check my ticket?

Thanks.

Does the security has the right to check my movie ticket if I am still at lobby?performing arts

If you have spent a lot of time wandering around, they may be making sure you're not trying to sneak into another movie or just waiting for another one to start. It's a private business that has the right to protect it's product(s). You purchased a ticket for one product, they are making sure you are not stealing from them by trying to see another film without paying.

Does the security has the right to check my movie ticket if I am still at lobby?binoculars opera theater

He wants to see if you're a paying customer or just loitering around.

And yes, they have the right.
Yup. Their house, their rules. Unless they somehow violate another law (anti-discrimination, etc.), simply asking to see your ticket sounds like a perfectly reasonable request. As a private property owner, they have a right to prevent trespassing. Just because their belief was wrong, does not mean that they acted illegally.
Yes, if you're in a private place of business, they may question you as long as you are on their property. This is the same principle many theme parks and concert venues are invoking when they search people's bags.
You bet. A security officer is an agent of the owner and is responsible for protection of the owner's interests... Including making sure that persons loitering inside the establishment are authorized to be there. A movie ticket is a definable authorization and the security officer was completely within his rights to check it.

Are you a fan of the salad dressing served in Japanese restaurants? Basically, Japanese-style salad dressing is made of soy sauce, vinegar, and vegetable oil. To arrange the flavor, other ingredients, such as grated onion, carrots, apples, ginger, and sesame are added. Adding wasabi also makes a good dressing. I list some basic Japanese dressing recipes below. Arrange the recipes as you like. Enjoy! The most commonly used vinegar dressing is called sanbai-zu and is made of rice wine vinegar, soysauce, and sugar. Adjust the amount of seasonings as you prefer. INGREDIENTS:

2 tbsps rice wine vinegar

5 tbsps vegetable oil

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp sugar

PREPARATION:

Mix all the ingredients other than oil in a bowl. Add oil gradually into a bowl and mix well.

You might have a problem, a few friends and I went to see "hannibal" (you know when it came out, whenever) and my friends brother was 25 at the time and they card-ed everyone. It may depend on the theatre...?
Your gonna have a problem. They have to ID you to che if your under 18. if you are under 18, unless your with a parent or adult they won't let you in.
I have had this problem when I went 2 c Borat... It really depends which movie theater you go to. Always bring an ID that shows your age. (at least if your old enough...if not make a fake ID and get it lamented)
no because most high school ids tell what year you are. fresh, soph, Jr., Sr., and there for they Can guess your age by your grade. so i doubt it will work your better off trying to sneak in. good luck.

Most large theatre chains start their entry-level employees at minimum wage, which is currently $5.85 USD, or slightly higher. As these jobs require no real skill and are highly sought after by teens and young adults (a typical perk is free admission to movies) there's no need for them to pay any more :)

How clean is the AMC? You can usually judge if you can get in based on cleanliness. How much they actually care about the theater. And if you manage to sneak in, will they check for tickets? You've most likely been to this theater, what have you seen in the past. Make sure the movie is good before going through the trouble of seeing it. Usually it's not worth it.
Find a homeless person, offer to give them money for a bottle of vodka if they will pretend to be your parent and buy the tickets. See South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut for more details.
when I was your age I did not even know that R rated movies even existed.any way have patience, you'll be surprised to know the availability of shows available for you to see that will entertain you and satisfy your craving for the "R". believe me, from the moment one begins to want what he can not have will get him-her into trouble "not necessarily with the law or your parents but with your own self " I am by no means trying to preach to you. From my own experience I have found out that waiting and living life on your present age level has served me well. what I mean by it is that at any given age we learn a little more that will serve us and guide us for tomorrow. so dream on, smell today's flowers and enjoy what life has to offer you today. tomorrow is another day.
Most movie theaters check ID's. But my advice is to come with someone who is over age 18 and should definitely get in. I know that from experience, oh eons ago.

I claimed 0 on my W-4...?

when I got hired for a job at an AMC theater yesterday. One of the managers was helping me and another new hire out, and she was saying that 0 would have the government take more out now, but give me more back later, or something like that, so I just claimed 0. Was that the best thing to do? I'm an 18-year-old still living with my parents (in California), and I'm a full-time college student

Some people say that it's better to just claim 1, take a bigger paycheck, and deposit some of it into a savings account with interest, and just pay the government back with that if I owe them. If I claim 0, then I'm practically giving the government an interest-free loan. The savings account I have is WaMu and I believe it's .25% (a month, I think)...is that gonna yield much over time?

Any professional advice?

I claimed 0 on my W-4...?sheet music

You are still a dependent of your parents, so you should claim zero. You aren't giving an interest free loan to the government because that's all you are entitled to. If you were NOT a dependent, you'd be entitled to claim 1 - since you are though, your parents get your exemption and you don't get one.

If you make under $5350 for the year you won't owe anything in taxes, so if you make less than about $103 a week they won't take anything out anyway for federal income tax, so it won't matter what you put on your W-4.

If you are making over that they'll take something out because they take out like you make that much every week all year. So this year, unless you had a job earlier, you'll get back whatever is taken out - you'll have to file a tax return though to get it. For next year, if you make over around that amount (limit will be a little higher for 2008) then you'd owe some tax. Then if you filed your W-4 as 1 instead of 0, you'd probably owe around $350 when you filed - putting the money into your savings account each week, if you had the discipline to do that, would make you about $8 interest for the year. Legally you are supposed to file for no more allowances than you are entitled to, though.

I claimed 0 on my W-4...?state theatre opera theater

By claiming -0- you have allowed the federal government to use your money with no return for you. Let's say you are entitled to receive a refund of $500, then that's all you get. If you had claimed 1 during the year, you get that $500 through out the year, and could have used it or put it away in savings in small incremental amounts. Many people don't care that they're loaning the gov't their money with no return, because it's like Christmas in April.
it is a horrible way to save money but if you find it hard to put money away and sometimes at your age it can be hard you did a good thing...in the spring you will get a bigger return and at that time you will have the option of putting some into a IRA....i did it this way to when i was your age because saving was tough.
If you're going to make less than $5350 this year, you won't owe any tax. (That's the standard deduction amount.) You can claim exempt on this year's w-4. You have to remember to change it for 2008, though, if you're going to keep working through the year. Single 0 is correct for you.

Since it's nearly December, and you're going to get one check with withholding on it anyway, I'd just leave it and file in January to get my withholding back.
Keep your money and invest it, it's a good discipline to develop at a young age. You should be OK claiming single and 1 exemption. Might want to check to see if your parents are still claiming you.

i tink u can......cuz da theatre is technically in the mall:]...
Ask the theater. Most of the times, it includes all of the businesses that are included at that mall. However, some of the stores actually lease the facility separately and do not follow the same rules as a 'mall' store would.
If it has a visa/mastercard logo, than yes, be aware that some places charge a transaction fee, and some places check the actual card, for example they'll scan it for $70 to see if there is any money there and actually conduct the transaction for $17 the rest of the money is then place back on the card for about 3 to 5 business days later. The key to this is, to always know how much is on the card to give the exact amount to be charged and inform the clerk that it is a gift card and not a debit or actual credit card.
If the card is specifically for the mall then I can't see why not. If it has the visa/mastercard logo you probably can.

Its best to check at the information desk in the mall.

Why not check out: http://www.clubshop.com/cgi-bin/rd/6,122...

This site has giftcards for many stores across the US. You can also get SuperCertificates that work just like credit cards - great for last minute presents and hard to buy for friends or relatives.

Job interview help?

Is there anyone here who has experience with job interviews at AMC theaters? What kind of questions do they ask? I know they ask personal things such as "What's your favorite movie?" because they asked my friend that, but I can't get a hold of him to ask what else they asked. What about the more serious, typical job interview questions? This is my first interview in months.

Anyone presently (or previously) employed by AMC, your input would greatly be appreciated

Also, I slightly recall my friend telling me that his first interview was them was one-on-one, then a second one was a group (multiple applicants) interview (or maybe vice versa)

Does anyone have experience with group interviews?

It was the best time of my love. The pay is crappy, but you will meet SO many new friends and people. I worked there when I was 17 and worked there for 2 1/2 years, I was promoted to manager in 3 months, I met my first love, one of my best friends, and can honestly say it was one of the best times of my life and a huge growing experience. The theater I worked for was a Century and a little laid back (obviously since I was one of the managers, even though I ran a tight ship) you get to see movies for free, AND dry runs too. That's where you get to stay until like midnight and preview the movie before it comes out when the theater is all closed down. THAT's when we had the most fun. We got into so much mischief, and my staff was the coolest bunch of kids, you'll just love it. Tip: get in good with a manager, with it comes lots of perks, trust me.

Have fun, work hard and HAVE FUN!! You'll love it, I promise!

Also, look for networking groups for film people - that's the best way to find out about opportunities before everyone else hears about them.

well for one the only reason they would ask you online is if you were appling for a job. that would really be the only acception. they shouldn't ask you if you were buying something.well if you don't have good protection on your computer a hacker could get your number and could do identity theft. nothing bad should really happen if you a cautious of what you do. just pay more attention next time you do these kind of things.

Where can I get clear, see-through earrings?

I'm most likely going to be hired at AMC Theaters, and they only allow one piercing per ear. The problem is I have my ears pierced more than once, and the moment I take the earrings out, the piercing hole completely closes up. Are there any special earrings which you can wear that are invisible, yet keep your ears from sealing? I'm sure a lot of other people have run into this problem with piercings that aren't allowed in their jobs, so if you could give me a hand I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

I am a 18 year old senior and I am taking a 16 year old girl I met at work to a date. The date I was thinking of is dinner and a movie. I was wondering what do I do during out time together. The place I am taking here is called the Easton Town Center which has a lot of stores and restaurants and perhaps one of the biggest AMC theaters. It has gameworks and there is a huge Mcdondalds (looks like 2 storys) there with a singing booth which also has a place to games (bourd and video)

Do NOT take her to a McDonald's to eat. Otherwise, hit everything in that center you both have an interest in. Just talk alot. Also, plan something. Don't make yourself seem uninterested in the date by just going willy-nilly. Plan the restaurant. Make a suggestion about the movie.
That sounds amazing..good date.

watch the age though remember your an adult and she is just a kid.
Seems like you have everything planned. Maybe you would like to ask her what she likes to do so it's not all your idea. Get to know her and take your time.
Well I think your idea sounds ok. Question is have u ever been on a date cuz u sound like u havent? U sound really nervous actually. But I suggest that u get some confidence and anything u do with her she will enjoy. :)
look first of all don't be nervous girls hate it when guys r nervous and then we get nervous! kk?? and second of all when u r in the movie theatre don't spend the whole time trying to figure out when the right time to be to kiss us! it is a TOTAL turn off! i mean if she said yes in the first place that means that she like u! unless she is a shalow B****! kk? but yea actually pay attention to the movie and if their is singing then go for it cuz well honestly girls love it when u make a complete and total fool of them selves!
I think it sounds like you have it planned out, but I think you should pick a movie that is an action, comedy, or horror movie.

Who has a Bachelor's Degree? Does it really matter so much?

I have an Associates Of Science Degree in Film. I'm a Film Projectionist for AMC Theaters. I got a few Filmmaking jobs after I graduated from Full Sail Film SChool but they weren't paying the bills. What else is out there without me paying for school again.

Who has a Bachelor's Degree? Does it really matter so much?sunshine

I was a double major in college and got two bachelor degrees. One in "Film and Digital Media" and the other in "Information Systems" (computer science with a business bend). I wanted a "filmmaking" job, but to be honest, they don't pay nearly enough as an IT job. The high paying IT jobs require that you have at least a bachelor's degree. It helps you get into the door of most major companies. But seriously, experience is king in this IT field. Typically, companies might substitute at least 3 years of work experience instead of a degree. It also gives you more freedom in leaving your work if you don't like it because the company you work for now knows you are a good worker, not necessarily your next employer. A bachelors degree gives them more confidence that this guy is reliable, smart, and was disciplined enough to stick with a 4 year program. Also, I've heard that it helps you later as you advance in your profession. I personally believe that knowledge you learn is never wasted, and in general you'll always need to learn new things because things keep changing all the time.

As far as Film is concerned, I find it more of an apprenticeship type field. You make friends with someone who has a great job in your interest area in film (editing, cinematography, acting, directing, tv production, make-up artist) and ask him/her if they'd allow you to be their assistant. If you do a good job, they might ask you back on the next project they work. Who knows, this mentor's boss might notice and contact you directly for their next project. It is more of a gamble and a bit longer of a struggle to make it in film. Conversely, you don't really need a bachelor's degree for it. Contacts are more important.

Generally (regardless of field), I think that if you don't have a bachelor's degree, get your work out there and impress people with your real world work experience. Network, have some good contacts. If you do decide to get a degree, a double major should be considered only if you like both areas cuz so far as I can tell, its only confused employers as to what I really want to do.

Who has a Bachelor's Degree? Does it really matter so much?star theater opera theater

It depends on your field of study. Yes, a Bachelor's degree (or lack thereof) matters to a lot of employers, but it needs to also be the right Bachelor's degree. If you are going to go get a degree in History, and want to do something other than be an Historian, the market isn't going to reward you much for having that degree.

If money is truly that important to you, you need to re-think your career choices. If you really want this particular career and money is secondary to you, then seek out the counsel of somebody in your field whom you admire and ask them to advise you about how to best pursue your ambition in your chosen career.
I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting. To go into that field, you really need the degree, plus additional certification. However, for a field such as filmmaking, some of the highly successful people have degrees in filmmaking, some do not.

If you want to change careers without returning to school, you will need to choose a field where a degree is not required, or is optional. Alot of retail and restaurant managers have no degree or a degree in an unrelated field.
I can't address your particular field from direct experience, but in my field DEFINITELY! Your resume is usually the first information a potential employer learns about you. A great education sets you apart from the other resumes. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and my MBA. It has opened several doors that otherwise would have remained closed. You can't have too much education.

What is a good job for someone with an Associates Degree?

I'm a Film SChool Graduate with an Associates in Film. I haven't had much Film work since I graduated from Full Sail in Florida. I've been a Projectionist for AMC theaters for about two years now and it pays the bills, but I would like to make a little more money. I refuse to do anymore college because school is too much of a head ache and I suck at it, I bearly passed Film SChool and I love Film. I just got married two weeks ago and I would like to know if anyone knows any good jobs out there that would hire someone with an Associates Degree?

What is a good job for someone with an Associates Degree?musicals

Try getting a job w/ your state. A civil servant. They don't really care what you are trained in, but can find a spot for you. They usually have great benefits.

What is a good job for someone with an Associates Degree?opera songs opera theater

Well, for someone with your qualifications, I would guess being a Projectionist or a theatre usher is about as good as it's going to get.

Film school grads with Associates Degrees are just about a dime a dozen... or cheaper...

You might see if you can get a job in a TV station as a junior Director or a floor director or Videographer.... but there is a long line for entry level positions in TV.
Generally the trades are suited to workers with associate degrees. And some of them pay pretty well.

Examples include:

Laborers

Mechanics

Painters

Carpenters
i think you just answered your own question. an associates in film isn't going to get you very far and neither is refusing to go back to school.
The AA degree is really nothing, It is just a stepping stone for the next level. I have an AA degree and the reason I got is so I can say I went to college.

You should wait off until they give you a call. But if they don't call you within 2 weeks then I would give them a call. You should ask for the Manager. Wait.
No, if they're interested they'll call you.
Wait to get contacted by firm.
I would send a follow-up email with an attached resume further expressing my interest in the company.

People usually don't appreciate follow up calls because they get so many resumes.

If you feel you need to, call the theatre and ask for the hiring manager's name and extension, but don't be surprised if they're less than thrilled to hear from you.

Go to any store that accept Maesto card and allows custom cash back amount. If you happen to be close to Aldl's go purchase some item and ask for cash back but leave $1.00 or $2.00 to cover for any p.o.s. fees.

If it is a work program, legally the can only force you to keep $1.00 or $2.00 on the card to cover for the point of sale fee.

First.

I would go back to you work place and ask them how do I get $35.00 out or call the number on the back of the card.

Do all normal theaters show new movies in HD? Do you have to go to one specifically saying HD movies

I am going to see Transformers and I want to just go to the closest theater, but I want to see it in the best quality I can. A firend told me to go to a certain theater because it is in HD there, but I would think all theaters would show HD by now. Both theaters are AMC if that matters at all. Do all normal theaters show new movies in HD? Do you have to go to one specifically saying HD movies here?the grand theater

This isn't really an applicable question. Movie theaters either project film or use digital projection.

HD only applies to home theater stuff like TVs.

The vast majority of theaters use film, which is generally very high quality. Not many theaters use digital projection yet. If you want the highest quality, look for a theater that advertises digital projection.

I need tips on my new job.?

I just recently got hired as an usher at AMC Movie theater. Do you have an tips?

I need tips on my new job.?chinese theater

By the nature of your question, it seems that you are committed to doing a good job and want some idea of the lay of the land. While I have personally never worked at a movie theatre - and that is not for the want of it as it seems like it would be very cool to do so, I do know what has contributed to my experience.

1. Don't be afraid to be nice. There is nothing more depressing than getting ready for the date, both of you traveling to the theatre after a few debates over which movie to see, having a really nice dinner and being exciting about going into the theatre and then being faced by a rude or even worse, unconcerned, employee. The way you present yourselves to the people going it helps to stage their experience - either positively or negatively.

2. Follow the dress code. I am a sucker for unanimity and when I see ushers and staff all wearing the same pants, vest and who look cleancut then I am more satisfied.

3. Be prepared for people to be total pains in the ****. While most everyone you experience is doing something they find fun, everyone has a different face they show the world. Don't let a mean old crabby man coming in for a discount matinee as you start your shift at 2pm. to ruin the next 8 hours for you. Just because he is in a bad mood doesn't mean you should be - although it may feel like that is his goal.

4. Be clear with people. While some can find it offputting, I like the definition of knowing I can resource staff for questions as simple as where is the bathroom, or how do I get back the parking lot. These things make me want to come back.

5. Finally, enjoy it! If you are having fun, your customers will to.

Thanks for the chance to offer you my advice, and good luck. You have already shown more initiative than most of the people I work with by simply asking this question - and we make drugs to treat diseases - so you are more than off to a terrific start.

I need tips on my new job.?opera mini opera theater

Yes, because I used to have a similar job. First be nice to all of the customers. Secondly, make sure to look busy if you can. When I worked as a theatre host and there wasn't much to do I would talk amongst my co-workers or talk to customers. The biggest thing is to make sure the customer feels welcome. And don't be nervous because its an easy job for the most part.
Put yourself in the public's point of view, how would you like to be welcomed into the theatre?

Very Polite, helpful and informative.

People will often ask you where to go or that they are looking for a certain place. Make sure you know where they need to be and you wont have many problems. =]

John.
Since we are in a recession, you have to find ways to keep your job that is if you do like working there.

1) Have a positive attitude. You cannot whine or complain, that's probably a reputation morale-killer right there. The first people who get fired are the ones with negative impressions.

2) Volunteer to do extra work. but also dont volunteer things you cant handle, these extra work gets the job well-done.

3) Be on time. Limit your "vacations" and that is a good way to go. By means of Vacation is that you better show up to work if you want to keep your position.

Rent.

both.
Both
If the movie is worth all the sound effects and I don't know what, I'll go to the cinema.. Otherwise I'll download it, burn it and watch it with friends.. I wouldn't even bother to rent it.. I go to the cinema for the effects only!
rent, much cheaper, quieter, and just better overall.
Go to the movies. There's a theatre where I live that only charges $3. (They only show movies after they've been out for a month or two, but who cares?)

If I rent movies, they are ones that I can't see anywhere else (like from the '30s, etc.).
Both. But mostly rent because I can watch them when I want.
If it's big screen worthy, (ex: Lord of the Rings trilogy,

The Kingdom, Pirates of the Carribean) then we try to make it to the movies. We smuggle stuff in from time to time to make the snacks cheaper. But we rent a lot, too. So, we do both.

I go to the movies but I don't buy popcorn while I'm there. Movie theater popcorn makes me sick everytime. Otherwise I buy them when they come out on dvd. 9 times out of 10 when I've bought a movie I hadn't seen before, I end up loving it. I have rented movies in the past though.
Both...if I miss movie then I rent movie.
Mainly rent/buy but I make the effort to see the best I can in the theater, and the ones that stand out as odd.
I have a membership to both Blockbuster and NetFlix. I also have the rewards card from AMC; however, renting is what I typically prefer...that way I can watch commericial free entertainment in my jammies:)
Both- renting is cheaper-
i don't do either.
I go to the majestic every once in a while but usaully wait untill my friends get it or at least rent it myself. Some movie theaters are really nasty.(ugh)

What ballet level would I be?

I've been taking jazz and gymnastics for EVER so I'm pretty good at dancing, if I say so myself. However, I have never taken ballet and would like to start except I don't know what level I should be in. I can do all the basics, plus triple pirouettes, fouttes, REALLY good leaps (all sorts) and I'm really flexible, but I don't know all of the proper ballet terms. I know that if the teacher were to show me I could do it but I wouldn't know what they would be called... What level would I be? I don't want to be stuck in Pre-Ballet with all the 5 Year olds!!!

What ballet level would I be?opera cd

Ballet is the foundation of all dancing. A lot of jazz stems from ballet, so you should have an easy time picking it up. Most studios have beginer ballet classes for older students, but you may be able to move right in to a more advanced ballet. I haven't seen you dance so I couldn't tell you what level ballet you would be in, that would also depend on the studio your in. I would ask the studio if you could take an evaluation class to help place you into the correct class, im sure that wouldn't be a problem. The only problem I could see you might having is the transition from jazz to ballet, I don't know how your school does it, but at my studio in jazz class we do pirrouettes in parallel and in ballet we do them turned out, but it will probably only be minor adjustments.

What ballet level would I be?opera singer opera theater

If i were you, i would check with my instructor. however, some dance studios offer older beginner classes that you may want to look into.
You sound pretty competent. I would think you're in an intermediate level. A lot of ballet terms are the same as jazz terms. Maybe you can try out a few classes to see which one fits you best.

Until then try to familiarize yourself with ballet terms.

Should I Take Children Ballet Class? I am 13...?

Hi! I am 13 and a Singaporean. I take Chinese Dance as my Co-Curriculum Activity and also learn piano. I can do the front and side split. I wish to take up Ballet. There is a Children Ballet Class nearby croaching for Grade 1 and I don't know if I should go for it. The coach is a male and the little ballerinas' age ranges from 8 to 10. But because of my busy schedules, I will be starting Ballet next year. Do you think I am too late for the Children Ballet? Can I go for Grade 2 of Ballet next year without going for Grade 1? I heard there are the same practises.

Talk to the teacher to see if he'd take you and if he says yes than go for it.

Sure you can. Go for it girl i started dancing when i'm 18 and still regretted not starting earlier
It's totally fine to be in a childeren's ballet class. I mean, I am 12 and I am in the 9 year old ballet. There are some other girls a year younger too so it is not that bad. It will feel really awkward at first, but don't worry.

I would suggest to going into Ballet 1 instead of 2 because Ballet 1 is all the basics for you to understand ballet.

If it is too weird or strange or you just don't feel comfortable with the younger childeren, you should check to see if there is a beginning teen ballet. That would probably be the best thing to do.

Hope I helped!

Good luck!
Well it all depends on how good you are. At my dance school there's older girls then me that are a level behind me.

Have you been dancing long? If so you may want a higher class. Do you know your places? you you don't know a lot stick to a younger class.

I hope this is useful.
Talk to the coach and ask if you can take a class in Ballet 1. From there, he can see where you should be placed. If you've already taken another form of dance, then it'll be a little bit easier for you to get things like rhythm and movement. I'm pretty sure he'll let you take it.

I am 12 and am going to start ballet next year. I haven't danced ballet since i was 6 and I really loved it. I don't remember anyting! Can you help me?? Any tips to practice before I start next year?

At 12, you're still pretty young and therefore have time to improve and develop muscles, so don't stress out too much. I'm sure that if you're taking a beginning ballet class it won't be too bad that you don't remember anything. Just keep in mind of the basics like posture (make a straight line with your body--look at your profile in the mirror and be aware of your pelvis, chest, and head being in line) and form (lift up during plies, careful of how you point your toes--don't curl them). Once you start classes, things will start seeming more familiar. So don't worry. Good luck!

build up your feet and leg muscles. a lot. also, work on the muscles involved in arabeque (back, legs). stretch out every day and keep fit. really focus on your turn out. :)
Stretch out alot and work out if your muscles are strong and lean and you are really flexible then it will be alot easier to learn the steps, also I would try going into a begining and a more advanced class in the begining to jog your memory of the old steps that you knew and then you are also doing more difficult and demanding steps as well, mostly talk to your teachers, they will be understanding that you are a bit rusty as long as you have a clear work out plan to get back into tip top shape then they should help you with it and maybe even give you some extra help in the begining.
i was the same way but i went 10 years without dancing ballet just stretch a lot.
oh girl! you have a LOT to learn well year are some things you can learn id also recomend picking up some books as well!

the 5 positions:

The first of the ballet positions for feet places the heels together. The toes are turned out with the goal being the ballet dancer achieving a 180掳 angle. Achieving this turnout takes work, and requires the ballet dancer to utilize the hips. It is not a natural standing position, but all good ballet dancers must master turnout to be considered for positions in ballet companies. When turnout is perfect, the knees are literally back-to-back.

For arms the first of the ballet positions is curved arms, with hands close together in right in front of the lower pelvis. The palms point upward and the fingers provide a gentle curve. The elbows are also slightly bent.

The second of the ballet positions for feet maintains the 180掳 turnout, but the feet are spaced approximately a foot (.30 m) apart. The arms maintain their curved position, but the hands are now slightly further apart. Each hand is in front of the top of each thigh.

In the third position for feet, the right foot maintains the 180掳 turnout. The left foot comes forward with the heel against the right toe. The left foot should form an almost 90掳 angle with the right foot. The left arm points straight out from the shoulder with the hand flat and palm down. The right arm is raised and curved above the head, with palm facing the top of the head.

Fourth position represents only a slight movement of the left foot. Instead of the heel being lined up with the toe of the right foot, the heel is now up against the middle of the foot. The right arm remains the same as in third position, but the left arm curls toward the body, forming a half circle right in front of the chest.

Fifth position moves both feet. The goal is to maintain the 180掳 angle, with the left foot forward. The heel of one foot lines up with the toe of the other. Both arms are now above the head in a curved position. The left arm is positioned exactly as the right arm is positioned in ballet positions three and four.

From each of the ballet positions, a student learns to take balances on toe shoes, do knee-bends, and bends forward and back of the upper body. Such work usually takes place at the barre during ballet class. The positions are then repeatedly applied in choreography.

I think that you don't need to remember anything if you're starting from the beginning. but maybe you could do something for condition (strength), or for your muscles (esp. on the back) and for your ankles (there are some rubber things which help you with that). try to stretch as much as you can.
You should practice...

-All the positions (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th)

-Pirouette

-Arabesque

-Assembl茅

-Attitude

That's just a few. But here's a website if you need any help.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of...
a couple years ago i had a 2-year break off dance classes and to get back into them again, I gave myself a little "intensive" where I worked on everything I could think of to build up leg strength, allover flexibility, and regain technique. i researched online all kinds of stuff- try dance.net for good tips in the ballet section of the discussions. its got some amazing help.

just remember that while it will be tough to get your body back into dancing shape and used to the steps again, "dance smarter, not harder". think about everything you do right down to your toes- detail and real technique become more important in the years you missed out on. but in the meantime, practice hard, too- you can do it. your teachers will understand, but show them your efforts and theyll realy appreciate you for that. i went on pointe for the first time within months of restarting dance because I proved my technique and strength. youre still young- you can get back there and farther. go for it and enjoy it! congrats on getting back into dance, too :)
um. stretch before class. make sure that your leotard and shoes fit nicely. try to make friends with other girls before class and ask them questions so that you don't get so lost during class. don't worry is your the youngest one because you had the long break and you will probably learn quickly so you can move up a few levels. also, be patient. do not take the teachers corrections as a bad thing, it is actually very good because you will learn from it. also, use your stomach muscles and stay on the balls of your feet. stretch your toes as much as you can. don't worry. just have fun.
Don't worry! I'm sure your teacher will be able to help you work back up to an apporpriate level. Just do some simple stretches in the weeks before the class so you can build up your muscles a little bit more. It may also help to reveiw these steps:

At the bar:

-Plies

-Tondues

-Jetes

-Ront de jambes (petit and grande

-Frappes

-Battements (petit and grande)

-Fondues

Some turns:

-Pirouettes

-Cha?n茅s

-Piqu茅s

Some jumps:

-Changement

-Glissade

-Assembl茅

-Jetes (including grande jetes)

If you don't know a lot of these steps, don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to catch on very quickly. You probably won't be expected to know all these terms, but it's probably not a bad idea to have heard of these terms before. Here's an online ballet dictionary that can help you: http://www.abt.org/education/dictionary/... . It has a few videos on there as well, so maybe this will refresh your memory. Oh, it's probably a good idea to wear your hair in a bun and to wear a black leotard and pink tights depending on how strict your studio is. Don't stress out about it at all though, I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck!
contact the class teacher if you can and ask her/him for advice on what exercises you can do in advance to build up your muscles in readiness for your dance classes and good luck.
maybe you should practicr streching again, and that thing thaT you go up on your toes.try it.but when you feel tired stop

Improving Ballet Tunout?

I posted anohter question a few days ago about how to retrian my body for ballet after 8 years of not dancing. I got a lot of great answers, and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any excercises to improve turnout? I did ballet for 8 years on and off, and then stopped completely when i was 14. Im now 21 and about to take ballet again at my college, just for fun not anything serious, but Im really trying hard to get back at least some of my abilties. Turnout is one of my biggest concerns right now. Anyone know anything, stretches, excercise, whatever, that can help me to improve my turnout?

Improving Ballet Tunout?theatre tickets

okay you can sit in the butterfly stretch position and stretch over foward and while you do this use your hands to push your legs down closer to the floor.

heres a picture: http://gvctemp17.virtualclassroom.org/sp...

but instead use your hands or elbows to push your legs down closer for a deeper stretch

and you can do the frog stretch which is

http://gvctemp17.virtualclassroom.org/sp...

both of these stretches really help with turnoutt... i should know its a problem i have myselfff =]

also when you dance keep in mind to always turn out from your hips.

and any stretch you do, whether it be a split or any kind of stretch, you should always work on turning out while doing it. That will train your body to turn out.

Improving Ballet Tunout?opera house opera theater

ok, you should never try to exagerate your natural turnout, but ehat you can do, is try to turn it out a little bit each time you dance. hope this helped :0)
heres one. This one works best without a barre and with arms in first position.

Standing in first position bring your right foot to sur le cou depied, now turn your working knee in (parallel) and out (turn out) again. Do this for 30 reps in and out. Switch legs.

Of course maintaining proper ballet posture the whole time, repeat as often as you like. Some people feel it the working leg, I actually feel my standing leg is the one working. It feels really good to me, like Im using a muscle in there I dont normally use, cept when it cramps. lol.

Tell me what u think.
i showed this video to someone else wondering about how to improve turnout, i hope it wasn't your question

this is a good exercise to strengthen your turnout muscles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa-0NRMg8...

to stretch them, sitting or lying down with your legs in this position is the most helpful.

http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/d...

http://www.equitrekking.com/new/images/t...

you can try to relax and just imagine your knees falling to the ground or you can gently bounce them. or turn over onto your stomach and bring your legs to the same position, put your hands by your shoulders and push up as you arch your back as far as you can.

also, in class (especially at barre) whenever you are coming up from a plie, concentrate on trying to get your inner thighs to rotate to the front (but make sure you arn't tucking your butt under). always remember that turnout has to come from your hips, don't try to force it or you will end up injuring your knees.

good luck!

New Ballet student needs help?

I'm 15 and just starting to take ballet. I've done some dancing before with the Youth Singers of Calgary but it's nothing really technique based, more musical theater type dance.

Does anyone have any tips for getting the most out of ballet class? What can I do to be a good, solid ballet dancer?

New Ballet student needs help?hollywood theater

when you are learning the steps, try to start with basic things, like turn out and the combinations, then master the harder things like arm and head movements. ask questions if you need to if you don't understand things. follow what you think is right but also watching the other girls will help you improve. try to stay with the music and get steps in your body memory by practicing. don't ever be intimidated or think you are not good enough. have fun!!! and never give up- even though things may be challenging. good luck!!!

p.s. i have been dancing for 8 years (jazz, hiphop, ballet, and pointe) and have seen older students start and take off into being great dancers

New Ballet student needs help?opera.com opera theater

Always watch the teacher and listen carefully because you need to know exactly what they are talking about-ballet is very exact. Practice as much as you can and know what you need to work on the most. Maybe ask your teacher after class for extra pointers.
Firstly, enjoy it. Try and do the best you can in class so you can improve your flexibility and technique. But if you want to be a good ballet dancer, always have good posture and make your movements fluent. thats all i can say.
quickest way, for me, to get good and solid is by taking as many classes as i can per week. and, a lot of ballet movements come from your 'core' which is basically your stomach, so do what you can to strenghten your abs. also, when your teacher gives ANY correction, whether speaking directly to you or not, make believe the correction was directed at you and be sure you do it, or are already doing it.
Hey. I'm 13. I've been dancing since I was 3. I think I can help. There's not one person in the whole world who can't become more flexible. First of all, you are not fat. Everyone sees themselves in a different point of view then everyone else does. The way I look at myself when I look down at my stomach, I see chubbyness, my friends envey me because I have such a skinny stomach and eat so much. If that's not the case, it's probably that you have baby fat. Ballet is really hard work. All the hard work pays off when you are so strong and you see those beautiful pointe shoes in your dance bag. Private lessons cost more. I suggest taking regular classes. It dosn't matter if people can see your stomach. You will work that stomach off just by doing one or two splits a day. To get more flexible, here's what you do:

* Lay on the floor. Lift your right leg 10 times. As high as you can, and as far back as it can go. Hold your ankle there and keep your leg straight or you won't get flexible. Do the same with your left leg.

* Do a bunch of splits.

Here's what you wear to ballet class:

* Leotard

* Tights

* Ballet slippers

Strenghten your feet, body, and legs- Sit on a chair and put marbles on the right side of you on the floor. Pick up the marbles with your toes. Do this until all of the marbles are on the left side. Then bring them back to the right side. Keep your back straight and your toes pointed.

Plie: 1st position- Stand facing the barre in first position. Keep your back straight. Bend your knees so that they are over your toes. Don't take your heels off the ground.

2nd position- Stand in second position. Feel your weight spread evenly over both legs. Bend slowly so your knees are over your toes. Keep your back straight.

Releves: 1st position- Stand in first position with your weight evenly balanced over both feet. Smoothly lift your heels off the ground at the same time. Keep your knees taut and try hard to hold your turnout. Keep your stomach and back muscles strong.

Tendu: Battement tendu devant- Stand in first position. Slide your foot in front of you. Slide it back.

Battement tendu a la seconde- Stand in first position. Slide your foot to the side of you. Keep your back straight and your leg straight. Slide your foot back.

Battement tendu derriere- Stand in first position. Slide your foot in back of you. Slide it back to first position.

Pirouette: 4th position- Stand in fourth position. Your right arm in front of you and your left arm to the side of you. Demi plie, spring up onto demi-pointe with your right leg slightly under your knee.Your head should be the last to turn, and the last to arrive. You should land back in fourth position with your arms in the same position as they were in.

Jumps: Ron de jambe- Stand in first position with your right arm out in front of you and your left arm to the side of you (The same as a pirouette). Pointe your right toe in front of you and run out. Jump up in the air in split position.

Does Gymnastics Affect Ballet?

I'm considering starting Gymnastics, but I've been told that it'll negatively affect my ballet performance, because it makes you muscular rather than the wispy look that is a distinct look of Ballet. I've been doing ballet for 10 years, and am considering going pro. Will Gymnastics make it harder to train at the Royal Ballet School, considering the thing they care most about after skill is aesthetics?

Does Gymnastics Affect Ballet?

There is that chance - but the extra muscle strength might be a good thing.

Good luck!!!

Does Gymnastics Affect Ballet?opera mobile opera theater

Yes it definitely does affect it. They are both about flexibility but there can be a slight difference in gymnastic. It might help in one way but might not in another way.
Yes, gymnastics will affect your ballet, but it sounds like you think you'll end up looking like some steroid popping body builder if you take gymnastics. You won't, trust me. What you will gain is more upper body strength since gymnastics trains the upper body as rigorously as the lower while ballet focuses much more on the legs and back than the arms (other than to have a graceful port de bras). I did both and I found that I didn't pack on the muscle when I was doing gymnastics and I still was rail thin.

What you need to be more concerned about is injury - with all the tumbling you'll be doing you may end up with an injury from gymnastics simply because this is a new skill you're acquiring and you have to expect a couple of knocks and bruises when you're starting out.

The other thing is that if you're going to go pro in ballet, you'll have to work hard to find the time to take gymnastics classes as well as all the ballet classes and rehearsals you'll be doing.

Lots of serious ballet teachers try to discourage their students from taking other sports or hobbies that are physical (you should have heard our ballet mistress cluck and grumble about one of the dancers who started doing track and field!) but I think being well rounded is always an advantage.

Hope this helps!
yes. i did ballet for nine years and after starting gymnastics adn tumbling, my ballet dancing was affected - in a negative way. gymnasts tend to have a heavier, more pounding step, unlike dancers, who should have a light step. however, gymnastics BEFORE ballet does increase flexiblity. if u r REALLY serious about dancing (which it seems like u r) dont do gymnastics. also you would most likely not be able to start gymnastics if your over the age of like 7, (which u have to be), gymnastics, like ballet is a liflong commitment which requires training at least 5 days a week.
Listen to shirasaya's answer up there, she is right.

The only thing I would add is: consider acrobatics instead of full gymnastics. Many dancers take acrobatics. This term incorporates all the limber/flexibility work of gymnastics (floor work only) and uses those skills for performing rather than competing. You can still learn the tumbling skills without training vault, bars or beam. Vault and bars require a good deal of strength and power. I know many tumblers who have long/lean body lines and their skills are beautiful.

You'll just have to look at all the benefits and negatives of pursuing gymnastics training and what it may do to your ballet career. You may consider that gymnastics will make you a more well rounded dancer and could benefit you if you pursued dancing outside of ballet. Or you may decide that ballet is absolutely it for you and you don't want to do anything that would put that career choice in jeopardy.
i thin it would be fine for you to take gymnastics. sure you might get more muscular but that can only really benifit your ballet, if you look closely many ballet dancers have a lot of muscle, which is a good thing!
well you can get more muscular but it makes you more flexible I know a girl that has been in gymnastics for a long time but she is petite and not muscular at all gymnastics and muscles don't always go together but a lot of dancers are muscular too and i mean professionals!
It would probably depend on how often and how hard you do gymnastics. Since styles really important when doing ballet, it'd be better that you don't do anything that would make you have muscles not needed for ballet. But if it's just a bit, then I think it'd be a good thing to make you flexible!
